FREE INSPECTIONS AND CLEANINGS
Washington Diamond offers free cleaning and inspection of your fine jewelry purchase for as long as you own it. We strongly suggest an inspection at least every six months.
DIAMOND TRADE-IN OR TRADE-UP
Many of our customers find they desire and can afford nicer jewelry as their tastes evolve and incomes increase over the years. We encourage you to trade-in your diamond towards the purchase of a bigger, brighter, and better one. We will consider trading-in diamonds of 0.75 carats or greater with GIA or AGS certification and we prefer to accept diamonds originally purchased form Washington Diamond, but may be able to offer a trade-in or trade-up on diamonds purchased elsewhere. Our objective with this program is to achieve a win-win situation for you and for Washington Diamond. Therefore, we reserve the right to decide whether or not to accept a diamond for trade-in or trade-up. We cannot guarantee your diamond will be accepted, until a formal offer has been made. SIZING AND ADJUSTMENTS OF ENGAGEMENT AND WEDDING RINGS
Every engagement ring and wedding band we sell comes with one free sizing adjustment! Normally, this would cost $79.00 for platinum rings. Our goal is to guarantee your satisfaction by making sure your rings fit really well, but because everyone's body is unique and everyone's finger fluctuates hour to hour, day to day, and season to season, there is never a "perfect fit."
How should a ring fit? Washington Diamond recommends a snug fit in which the ring is a little difficult to get over the knuckle, but not impossible. The ring should also not be too tight as to cut off circulation to the finger.
What if I think my ring is too tight? We ask that you try out the ring for about two weeks before making any adjustments. This is really important, because many times this is a person's first time wearing a ring and the body needs to adjust. If we change the size before the finger adjusts to wearing the ring, we may need to change the size again and it could cost you, unnecessarily, more money. The two week waiting period is a safe bet.
What if I think my ring is too big? This is more commonly an issue with engagement rings, but it applies to wedding bands as well. If the ring is clearly too big by several sizes and you are afraid of losing it, because it doesn't catch on your knuckle at all, then we will adjust it immediately. If it is a good fit, but you are concerned is might be a little too loose, then we strongly recommend the two week waiting period.
What if my ring fits great? Then smile, you've got a beautiful ring!
How long will a sizing adjustment take? We cannot size rings the same day. We will schedule a time for you to drop off your ring. Normally sizing adjustments take one to two business days. Men's tungsten carbide rings cannot be sized by our goldsmiths and must be sent for an exchange of size, which can take two to three weeks on average.

Pertaining to Jewelry Appraisal For Insurance Purposes
Purpose: To establish the retail replacement value if purchased again from Washington Diamond at this point in time or the near future.
Function: To provide a basis for obtaining insurance coverage.
An insurance appraisal is requested by an owner who wishes to obtain insurance coverage for a given item. The retail replacement value represents the cost to replace the described item with a comparable item as similar as possible to the original.
1. The appraiser has made a physical inspection of the object(s) specified in the jewelry appraisal for insurance.
2. Unless otherwise noted, items are in new or good condition and do not require any repairs at this time.
3. The values and descriptions listed, and all other statements are true and correct to the best of the appraiser’s knowledge and belief based on present day market values and accepted appraisal methods.
4. Because mountings prohibit full and accurate observation of gem quality and weight, it must be understood that all data pertaining to mounted gems can be considered only as approximate.
5. Since jewelry appraisal and evaluation is not pure science and involves a subjective professional assessment by the appraiser, estimates of value and quality may vary from one appraiser to another with such variances not necessarily constituting error on the part of the appraiser. Due to the subjective nature of appraisals and evaluation, statements and data contained herein cannot be construed as a guarantee or warranty.
6. If applicable, appraisal fees are based on time and are not contingent on value or outcome.
7. The appraisal is not an offer to buy the appraised items at this or any price.
8. Unless otherwise noted, Sales taxes are not included in the appraised values.
9. The date of the appraisal and the date of the document are approximately the same unless noted otherwise in the comments section of the appraisal document.
10. Because appraisal technology and procedures are continually improving, it is possible that an appraiser may examine this item differently and come to different conclusion at a later date.
11. Possession of this document, any portion of this document* or any copy thereof does not include the right of publication without the appraiser’s written consent Public use of the appraiser’s name, or the name of the appraisal firm or jewelry store, or of information contained in the appraisal, is not granted. Use of this document in advertising is not permitted.
12. Testimony, depositions, hearings or court attendance are not required by reason of rendering this document.

Cleaning & Care of your Fine Jewelry and Rings
Washington Diamond offers free cleaning, polishing, and inspection of your fine jewelry and ring purchases for the life of the piece every three to six months! This is a great benefit that keeps your jewelry in top condition and looking great all the time. Don't be one of those people who lets gunk build up under your diamonds and sit there for years...you'll be losing out on the full beauty of your jewelry and the compliments of admirers. When the time comes, schedule a cleaning visitation.
In addition to our professional cleaning service, there are many things you can do to keep your jewelry clean and protected:
First, store your fine jewelry in ring or jewelry boxes or protective pouches. This is especially important for all gemstone rings and pearls.
Do not use strong household cleaners on any jewelry! Ammonia, chlorine and bleach, and other chemical detergents are too strong for jewelry. Mild liquid soaps and warm water is best.
A soft bristle brush or toothbrush can be used to remove dirt and debris from the underside of your diamonds, sapphires, or rubies. Due to their hardness, this will not harm them. Remember to soak them in warm soapy water for several minutes first. Do not use this technique on any other gemstones.

INFORMATION ABOUT OBTAINING JEWELRY INSURANCE
Washington Diamond cares about protecting your financial security. That is why obtaining insurance for your valuable diamonds, gemstones, and other fine jewelry is critically important. We strongly recommend that you purchase insurance coverage for your fine diamonds, gems, and jewelry through an authorized insurance company with a good reputation.
Washington Diamond does not offer insurance coverage and our craftsmanship warranty and satisfaction guarantee do not include protection against loss, theft, damage, or mysterious disappearance of your diamonds, gems, or fine jewelry. In particular, we cannot replace or reimburse you for the loss of a center diamond or gemstone that has fallen out of its setting. Only an insurance policy can.
You can purchase an insurance policy for your diamonds and jewelry through a rider on your homeowner's insurance policy or through a specialized fine jewelry insurer. Doing so is the only way to adequately protect you from significant financial loss resulting from the loss, theft, damage, or mysterious disappearance of your finest and most valuable gems and jewelry.
When purchasing insurance coverage in the form of a rider on a homeowner's policy, pay particular attention to what protection is offered and be sure to read the fine print. This is advisable to do in all cases. Some policies only cover loss or theft from within the home. You may wish for a more comprehensive type of coverage.
