Discover the best way to sell your high-quality diamond and receive more money than a jeweler or pawnbroker will pay. This is a proven service with great results.
Can you sell my diamond?
Yes, if it is of nice quality! We are pretty selective and seek better quality. At the present time, we are primarily interested in center or loose diamonds that are certified by GIA or AGS (or high quality), 3/4 carat or larger, have a color of J or better and a clarity of SI1 or better.
Tell us what you have and quickly find out if it is right for us and how much money you'll receive. If we are not interested we'll tell you why and we may be able to give you suggestions on the best ways to dispose of your items.
How does your consignment service work?
Your item will be photographed, cleaned and polished if appropriate, described and cataloged, assigned a unique tracking number and prepared for sale. All of our consignments are cross-checked and verified with the police for security reasons.
Then the fun begins: we go about selling your diamond. This process often takes less than 90 days and almost always yields an amount higher for you than through other methods. There are no direct costs and no commission fees.
How do you sell the majority of the items you receive?
By being effective. Because there is no fee to you, we know we won't make any money unless we make the sale for you. So we get it done. We're not greedy. We would rather make some money than none at all.
We are located in the Washington D.C. area, one of the most affluent areas in the country. We sell millions of dollars worth of diamonds each year. And we have proven selling methods that are efficient and effective. We've also made extensive contacts with buyers (consumers, jewelers & dealers) across the country, during our 38 years in business. So we may already have person waiting to buy your diamond.
If you have a diamond you no longer want ... don't try to sell it yourself! Let us sell it for you professionally.
We do all the work, without the hassles and concerns. This allows us to sell most of consigned items within 90 days.
What feedback do you receive from clients?
...I decided to sell the 1.25ct diamond. I discovered Washington Diamond through an Internet search. My first impression was positive - their website is very professional and easy-to-navigate. This was important because when selling on consignment, I would be handing over the "Marketing and Sales" responsibility to someone else. After contacting them via e-mail, I visited the store in Falls Church VA (near Washington D.C.) The staff is very courteous and professional. They sold my diamond ... for the negotiated price, about 80-85% of what I paid for it (I was very happy considering the first jewelers I contacted offered about 50%, at most.) I hope I do not need to sell an engagement diamond again, but if I do, I will consign it through Washington Diamond.

I just wanted to say thank you for the way you made selling my diamond so easy and satisfying. Before I came into your store I had very low expectations for what I might get for the used diamond I had if I put it on consignment. I thought I'd be really lucky if I received 50% of the diamond's value. I was envisioning a seedy pawnshop environment. However, when I entered the store I automatically felt more comfortable because of the friendliness of your staff as well as the professional manner in which you take appointments and when you told me I would get about 90% of the diamond's value I was extremely excited! It was very satisfying to take that check to the bank and deposit it. Thanks again for a great experience.

D.C. Washington DC.

Washington Diamond enabled me to sell my diamond quickly and safely without jumping through any hoops. An Internet search led me to their Falls Church (VA) location and a short consultation convinced me to sell on consignment with them. I kept in close contact with Washington Diamond following our initial meeting and received timely, police responses after each inquiry. My diamond sold within 4 months and I received a check in the mail shortly thereafter. Ultimately, working with Washington Diamond allowed me to get a fair price for my diamond without wasting time or engaging in excessive legwork. I would recommend Washington Diamond's services to anyone who wants to sell their diamond in a no-risk, hassle-free manner.
Why don't you charge a percentage or a fee?
Because it's too difficult to do all the calculations. And how would you know what you'll receive. We like to keep it simple. You'll know just how much money you get upon the completion of the sale using our method.
We are compensated by keeping the amount received over the amount we have agreed to pay you. Sometimes we make a good amount and sometimes it's not much, but it helps us and it helps you.
How much money can I get?
Of course that all depends on what you have, but many people have been pleasantly surprised with the amount they are able to receive. You will receive an amount just slightly below the current dealer-to-dealer selling price for a comparable item. The good news is this amount is usually far more than you could get by selling it yourself, or to a jeweler or pawnbroker, or on eBay.
There are a large number of risks of trying to sell the item yourself. To be brief, they are the time it takes, how much money you or may not receive, lack of a market, lack of knowledge and your personal and financial security, to name a few. Why not let us do all the work for you. You'll often get more and avoid all the hassles.
How do I ship my items to you?
We accept items for consignment two ways, by personal appointment, or by mail. We will give you complete information on how to safely send your fully-insured consignment to us, after we have reached an agreement. Can I meet with you face to face?
Yes. We are available by appointment at our office in Falls Church, Virginia. Just fill out our form above and we will contact you.
