Hi Tom, I'm sorry I did not get back to you earlier to convey the news of how my engagement to Melanie went. However Melanie was very elated when I proposed and her eyes exploded with delight when I presented the enegagement ring to her aboard our sailboat on the Annapolis bay in October. I would like to thank you and your staff for your service in resizing and refinishing my wedding ring. When it was cut down, you said that you wouldn't be able to exactly re-create the finish, and that it would be a bit different, which I accepted. When I received it after it was resized, it was indeed different. It turned out better. The new finish is much more durable than the original. Whereas the old brushed finish scratched very easily, the new is bulletproof. And in cutting it down, the cut was placed to remove some of the existing damage on the polished sides. I just wanted to write and tell you how much I appreciated your time and commitment to helping me select a setting for a diamond I owned. This was for an engagement ring. I believe it was back in middle May when I came in to look. I had visited other jewelers before considering Washington Diamond and after just the brief time with you I noticed the difference. One thing that helped me decide on Washington Diamond was your approach. At other places I felt pressured and noticed a "salesman" type mentality. Just wanted to pass along my thanks for the great engagement ring your crew designed for me. Lori's one requirement (just joking she now says) was that it "reflect moonlight". My plan was to ask her to marry me during our vacation to Myrtle Beach last week. (The moon was full and I needed all the help I could get!!) Got rained out the first night but the weather cooperated on Monday, and the moon was shining bright and reflecting beautifully off the ocean. As we walked along the water at about 10:00 PM, I pulled the ring out of my pocket, "pretended" to find it on the beach, pointed it toward the moon and saw a very pretty sparkling blue hue. I said, "look, it reflects moonlight"! Lori had a very stunned look on her face. I asked her if she thought it would fit? The light finally came as to what was happening and, with tears in her eyes, she held out her hand and said "somehow I think so"!!! The rest is history and a June wedding is planned. Everyone that has seen the ring is very impressed and usually responds by saying, "Wow". Most of the women are jealous and the guys in her office have instructed her to keep it away from they're wives!! Thanks again!! We're both very happy.

I would like to thank you for making my engagement ring search most pleasurable. My ring is beautiful and everyone who see’s it comments on its beauty and craftsmanship.

Before I came to Washington Diamonds I visited four different jewelry stores; Boscov’s, Jared’s, Gordon’s and Robbins. All of which were very unsatisfying in all aspects of searching/purchasing an engagement. No explanation was provided regarding the grading and/or attributes of the diamond at Boscov’s nor did they provide a recognized certification for the diamond ring that we purchased. The ring was returned and the next stop was Jared’s where my fiancée and I were offered refreshments upon entry of the store and then we were left sitting at the display counter for 15 minutes before we decided to leave because no sales person ever came over to assist us. The next encounter was Gordon’s were we actually purchased a diamond ring without a sales person explaining the grading and/or attributes of the diamond we purchased. After wearing the ring for a week or so I noticed a huge flaw almost like a crack through the center of my diamond. In speaking with several of my closest friends I was informed that I should have received a certification for the ring to explain the information that the sales person did not regarding the grading and attributes of my diamond. I returned to the store to request my paperwork and was informed that the diamond ring was not certified and they could not provide the color or clarity, but they could provide an appraisal costing $95.00. After researching their web site where it states “Diamond certification is documentation of a diamond’s grading or attributes. Unlike most other diamonds, Gordon’s Diamond comes with two diamond certificates.” Once again I returned a ring. The next stop was Robbins where they did take the time to explain the diamonds grading and attributes, but according to the sales person the only stone in our price range was a yellow colored diamond. Again because I am not a diamond expert and I do not know the cost of diamonds we purchased a ring again. I got home and I called a close frien d who had just purchased a ring from Washington Diamonds. She provided the web site and I researched the diamond we purchased at Robbins by color, clarity, etc... I found that Robbins had over-charged us and I was unhappy with the choice, because the stone was visibly yellow. Since the ring was on its way to get sized we called and cancelled it. The next day I contacted Tom from Washington Diamonds and made an appointment to search for an engagement ring. Upon arrival at Washington we were greeted very warmly. Within 10 to 15 minutes we were escorted into a private office where we met with Tom and he asked us what we were looking for in color, clarity, size and price range. WD is not like any other jewelery store. We bought our wedding rings from them on 2004, and every time I visit the store, they know me by name and ask about my husband and our new daughter. Since then, I have bought other pieces from them and will have them make a special ring for my Mother on her 50th Bday. We have had others asked about my wedding ring and if it was hand made just for me. When you buy from them, you know you are not getting a ring that another bride has. Their designs are unique and one of a kind.They are very personal but do not force you to buy from them.
